Donald J. Trump, desperate to delay his criminal trial in Manhattan this month, has renewed a request for the judge overseeing the case to step aside, the latest twist in the former president’s attacks on the judge’s integrity — and family. In a court filing made public Tuesday, Mr. Trump’s lawyers argued that the judge, Juan M. Merchan, has a conflict of interest because his daughter is a political consultant who has worked with Democratic candidates. The lawyers also claimed that her company, Authentic Campaigns, has used social media to deride Mr. Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, and tout its connections to President Biden. “Your honor has an interest in this case that warrants recusal.”The Manhattan district attorney’s office, which brought the case against Mr. Trump, fired back, noting that Justice Merchan had previously declined to recuse himself, citing a state advisory committee on judicial ethics. They argued that Mr. Trump had offered no new evidence, other than “a daisy chain of innuendos,” and said that he had made “multiple attenuated factual leaps here that undercut any direct connection between Authentic and this case.”

Why Calvin Klein ads still get people talking

The strategy was classic Calvin Klein, a brand which has been synonymous with sexy, conversation-starting campaigns since the 1970s. From Calvin KleinBut the White ads were just the start of the headlines for Calvin Klein. Adorning a New York City phonebooth, Mark Wahlberg is seen in a 1992 Calvin Klein campaign. Meanwhile, no one besides the ASA seems to be admonishing Calvin Klein over the FKA Twigs ads. For Calvin Klein, both sets of ads are an example of that old adage — there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

In an effort to comply with Florida's expanded-upon "Don't Say Gay" law, one school district is no longer asking students to read Shakespeare in its entirety. The law has also led to another school district forbidding teachers and students from using pronouns that don't correspond with their sex at birth. Hillsborough School District Spokeswoman Tanya Arja told the Tampa Bay Times the changes were made "in consideration of the law" — Shakespeare's writings, like many classics, are filled with sexually-charged innuendos and romance. The Times' report also noted the changes are occurring as the school district adapts to changes in Florida's "Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking" educational standards. It's also now Orange County School District policy that transgender teachers and contractors are barred from asking students to refer to them using honorifics or pronouns that do not correspond to their sex at birth.

Barbara Alper/Getty ImagesDrag has become increasingly visible in recent years through mainstream shows like “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and popular public events such as drag brunches, drag bingo and drag queen story hours, in which drag performers read children’s books to young audiences, often at libraries. Some trans drag queens who received hormone injections were “strongly deplored by stage impersonators who (said) that the whole point of female impersonation depends on maleness,” Newton wrote. But “Drag Race” has also skewed viewers’ definition of drag – no drag kings have ever competed on the series, Testa noted, and the judges have long imposed somewhat traditional beauty standards upon contestants. Pickle reads from a book during the Drag Queen Story Hour program at a Los Angeles library in 2019. These lawmakers falsely claim that drag performers “groom” or sexualize children, of which there is also no evidence.
When a BBC reporter tried to end an interview with Elon Musk several times, Musk kept talking. Musk talked for 30 extra minutes and took questions from Twitter users despite being "pressed for time." "I think we can finish the interview there," Clayton then said, but Musk continued laughing and scrolling on his phone looking for more questions. The BBC interview ended at the 59 minute mark, but the exchange continued on Twitter Spaces for a further 30 minutes, as Musk invited speakers on to ask him questions. The spontaneous BBC interview came about after Clayton emailed Musk about labelling the BBC as "government-funded media," on Twitter.

At a meeting in Florida last week, Florida Republican Will Robinson Jr. read out names like "Anita Dick" and "Holden Hiscock."
Donald Trump launched a new attack on rumored 2024 rival Ron DeSantis. He shared an old picture that allegedly shows DeSantis partying with school pupils. "Here is Ron DeSanctimonious grooming high school girls with alcohol as a teacher," a caption on the user's post reads. In a New York Times article in 2022, former pupils at the school recalled DeSantis partying with seniors. The post Trump shared alludes to a far-right campaign to stoke opposition to LGBTQ education in classrooms by smearing teachers as "groomers", or pedophiles.

InsiderThe only thing anyone talks about on Twitter these days is Elon Musk. Since Elon Musk acquired the company in October, there's been a new scandal every week. But as many have already pointed out, Twitter only has one main character now, and that's Elon Musk. The 51-year-old Tesla CEO is firmly centered at the heart of the platform's discourse, day after day. Twitter users who built their brand on the so-called #Resistance against President Donald Trump's administration have pivoted with glee to railing against Musk.
